The Passagemaker is one of those rare craft that does everything well. You can row it, sail or add an outboard to explore your special fishing spot. Easily takes 3-4 adults. Traditional lapstrake appearance using CLC's patented Lapstitch building method. At 11'7" long and only around 40kgs it easily dits on top of your car.

Visit the CLC Boats website for more information and photos of the Passagemaker.

In this class students will build their own Chesapeake Light Craft 'Passagemaker Dinghy' from a Capeboatworks pre-cut kit. Each passagemaker kit will include all of the plywood, mahogany, epoxy and glass necessary to complete the project. We will even include a pair of beautiful sand cast bronze oarlocks.

The Passagemaker will not include any sails. spars or fittings. If you wish to add the Sail package we can supply the required timber, sails and fittings. These will be available for sale during the class.

Prior to the commencement of the class each student will receive a comprehensive Building Manual, class notes, Tools list and Epoxy manual to study.

In this instructor led class each will work through a defined building schedule to complete the required tasks for the day. At the end of each day the class will discuss the days progress against the schedule and plan the next days tasks.

To complete the Passagemaker in time you can expect to spend full days and even one or two evenings. On the last day, Saturday we would hope to have the Passagemaker ready by midday for you to take home and paint or varnish and add some fittings. The instructor will discuss the best finishing methods and provide advice on suitable paints and varnishes.
